Marimba Music 1

Jon Madin’s Marimba Music 1 is a collection of pieces composed or adapted for diatonic marimbas, xylophones, recorders and other C instruments. All pieces are for mixed abilities with each selection having at least one or two parts that are easily learned and played. All have been classroom tested with primary and secondary school groups and also community groups and festivals. Each piece lists a suggested age range, bars to remove, preliminary exercises, whether recorders are used, and extension ideas. There are also helpful notes about the piece and the instruments used.

An audio CD of complete performances of each song is included, which is useful in demonstrating the melodies and bass lines, as well as providing appropriate playing styles, moods, arrangements and instrumentation possibilities.
