The Yamaha YBB-201M Convertible Marching BBb 4/4 Tuba features a convertible leadpipe that allows for concert band or marching band use. This instrument offers the versatility of a single instrument which is perfectly at home in either marching ensemble or in the concert hall. And its durable construction guarantees a long life of performances. The YBB-201M is used by many top drum corps in DCI.
The reinforced convertible leadpipe for marching allows the instrument to be played in concert and marching settings. The marching leadpipe also has an extra water key to facilitate drainage while marching. The marching leadpipe can be adjusted so the tuba is held on either the left shoulder or the right shoulder.
All Yamaha marching instruments as well-balanced, so they are easy to hold maneuver while marching.
Hand-Fitted Valves and Slides
Hand-fitted ensures an absolutely perfect fit and seal between the valve pistons and casing or slide parts. Such a fit helps to achieve smooth air flow and smooth action, and improves the response and intonation of thee instrument.
Laser-Fused Plasma-Welded Bells
A high-energy laser fuses the brass together for a virtually seamless bell, which results in continuous, even vibrations.
The perfectly rounded tubing results in less turbulence and a smoother air flow, thus making possible an excellent scale and reduced resistance.
All Yamaha marching instruments have heavy bracing throughout, so they are more durable at vulnerable points and can withstand the rigors of use in a marching band.
