Interactive Rhythm Games, Songs & Interactions for the Music Educator, Music Therapist & Drum Circle Facilitator By Dave Holland Book and DVD 60 pages Fun and unique ideas that can be learned quickly to incorporate song and interactive play into your next drum circle, music class, or music therapy session. These 25 activities foster interaction among participants by creating opportunities for eye contact, group singing and creative movement. The activities are divided into 3 primary sections:

Comin' Together - Activities designed to introduce folks to the rhythm making experience. They include a welcome song, body beat warm-ups, stretching activities and other games that create instant rhythm and fun. These type of activities are vital in creating a "safe space" so that everyone in the circle feels comfortable sharing and interacting.
Learnin' Together - The activities in this section are designed to infuse creative play, experiential learning, storytelling and laughter in the rhythm making experience.
Jammin' Together - This section features games and songs designed to bring energy, fun and a new level of group connectivity to your rhythm making session.

Each activity is rated in the Table of Contents by ease of preparation, time and participant skill level.  At the end of each activity, there is a section called The Payoff which lists potential key areas of individual, group and musical outcomes. The accompanying DVD showcases all of the activities. Interactive rhythm instruments include different pitched drums and varied timbres of small percussion instruments (shakers, bells and blocks). Some other instruments that he often groups together for single activities are Boomwhackers, rhythm sticks, egg shakers, Sound Shapes, frame drums and nature sounds (frogs, rain sticks, etc.).
