Dobani DVCH 20" & 24" Devil Chaser Pair
Description
Also known as Buzz Sticks, BungKaKa, or Balingbing, these split bamboo sticks come from the Philippine Islands. They can be played in ensembles for the Kayabang dance, with separate players playing one stick each. Devil Chasers were traditionally carried to scare away animals (or spirits) along a path.
These split bamboo sticks come as a pair in two lengths, 24" and 20", creating two distinct pitches. When the split ends are bounced off the palm or the knee, they produce a buzzing sound. A string or band can be moved up or down the stick to change the pitch as well as the intensity of the buzz. The thumb covers and uncovers a small hole near the bottom to produce a wah-wah effect.
Features:
Split bamboo construction
Different length sticks: 20" & 24"
String for fine-tuning buzz response
PLEASE NOTE: Natural cracks will develop in the bamboo. This only adds to the incredible buzzing sound.
