The wider playing surface is the softer side, designed to produce a full sonority at lower dynamics while also adding weight behind a powerful stroke.
The narrow playing surface is the harder side, producing a focused attack and enhanced articulation. It is effective for repeated notes and smaller instruments.
The Symphonic Gong Mallet has a ply birch core and solid ash handle.
