What does XS20 mean?

Xs20 is derived from ‘Access’ and ‘B20’… Xs20. At its low price, Xs20 gives more peopleaccess to cymbals crafted from B20 bronze cymbals… the metal played by the pros. The ‘X’ also refers to SABIAN Innovation… ‘X = Innovation’, putting Xs20 into the category of modern, innovative cymbals launched by SABIAN since 1993, with AAX and HHXrounding out this ‘modern and innovative’ roster.

Why was it so difficult to ‘invent’ Xs20?

Because B20 bronze is such a hard metal, is extremely difficult to craft with anythingother

than skilled handwork. Metals with lesser tin content (B8, B10, B12, etc.) are softer, sothey

can be worked by machine. But those softer metals are also less durable and lessmusical.

To create XS20 we developed an innovative procedure that enables us to efficientlyand

effectively use a mix of proprietary technology and skilledhandwork.
