I Love This!

The Vic Firth T1 Timpani Mallets are as popular as they are practical.  Vic Firth has become a big name in the drumstick industry but before he was making sticks he was a legendary timpanist for the Boston Symphony Orchestra.  He used his decades of knowledge to design simple, dependable mallets for players of all ages and abilities.  This is the perfect mallet for any beginning timpani student as well an excellent “general” mallet for orchestras, bands and churches.  -Adam

The Vic Firth American Custom T1 General Timpani Mallets are for all-around playing. Produces rich sound yet is capable of rhythmic clarity.

The American Custom Timpani mallets reflect Vic's fifty years of experience as Solo Timpanist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Each mallet is turned from a single piece of rock maple, which eliminates a core that could rattle and the need for a screw-on washer to secure the head. Coupled with round seamless heads, they produce bigger and brighter sounds.

Head = 1 1/2"

Lisa R asked: is this a soft mallet? As I understand from my son there is a hard and soft. Thanks! Jul 3, 2012

Chris S: As the name implies, it is a general use mallet. I would label it medium. For percussive sounds, a harder mallet would be needed. This is good for quiet to medium sounds of a more legato variety. Jul 3, 2012
