Suspended Bowl systems employ a series of struts or supports and a ring around the top to allow a flanged bowl to be suspended freely inside. Just as with drumset and concert toms: the more the shell is allowed to vibrate, the more tone and sound projection is achieved.
Pedestal frames are compact and eliminate a great deal of weight. Hardware is mounted directly to the shell and tuning mechanisms are mounted internally. These factors make pedestal frame drums perfect for institutions and portability where the action is not exposed to damage.
Retractable Leg frames are very portable, but are less stable and durable than other frame styles.
Cradle frames are separate frames used to support hand tuned drums. Cradles are very compact and authentic for Baroque and classical music.
